Summer is in full swing, and while it seems that all we had to worry about in the not too distant past was sunburn, poison ivy and bee stings, new concerns about bloodborne illnesses accompany summer activities. While West Nile virus and Lyme disease are well known, we are now hearing more about babesiosis, a malaria-like illness resulting from infection from a parasite carried by deer ticks.
